Ajax widgets go cellular

Posted on January 31st, 2007 in General Tech, Marketing, Practical Tech by Bulletz

When I first learned about Ajax it was because of Wordpress. Wordpress has been using Ajax as the base for their blog operation for a long time. Then they brought about widgets. These drag and drop modules make it easy for anyone to customize their blog sidebars in a jiffy. Now Ajax is bringing their modules to cell phones. DoMo users will have access to all kinds of little pieces of their favorite sites, RSS feeds, and videos on their cell phones. Email providers are already getting into the groove so that cell users are able to access their mail from anywhere they happen to be. It’s an interesting new approach to phones. The focus is more user friendly than tech savvy and it is going to make a cell phone revolution.

Kind of weird that not many people came out into the cold to get their hands on the newest hot release from Microsoft. Last night was the release, this is the first full day that it has been on the shelves. There have been so many delays and patches that it seems people are more skeptical of the first version of Vista than they may be later on. I am not really surprised after all that has gone on in the past year trying to get Vista up to snuff. I predict that more people will get into it in another year or so when the software has been firmed up well enough to stand on its own legs.

fuelmyblogI have been posting my sites at FuelMyBlog to see if it is a viable way to increase traffic. I must say that I am getting steadily increasing clicks from the site and all my blogs are blossoming. It’s great. You just pick a box, add your website, add a picture, and you are done. You can then check the number of clicks your site has gotten since being posted. Response time is in minutes there. The staff is great, friendly, and they have the right idea. Make sure to check them out, add your sites, and link back to them. It’s a free service so make it worth their while to keep it open.

I was just reading about an interesting piece of gadgetry that will increase the compact design of laptops. The bottom-loading cd drive. It would load from under the computer with a pull off lid. You would then just insert your disk, replace the lid, and presto! You have access to your cd. It’s a good idea considering that many people still want more than one drive on their laptop. I, for one, enjoy having a 3 1/2 inch floppy, a cd reader, and a burner. I am sure that others wish the same *or close to it*. Great idea Apple

SO YouTube has decided to open the doors of revenue to the independent filming masses. They are working with the BBC to pay users who upload uncopyrighted videos. It would be a great idea if we would be exposed to great films, clips, and videos of thought provoking videos. My guess is that they will end up with more videos of babies, pets, and stupid human tricks than they can handle. Hopefully the revenue incentive will build a community of people who are into quality uploads. I don’t have a problem with people who like to share their family videos or pets doing cute things, but I am talking on the larger scale…the content as a whole.
