HD DVD Competition Heating Up
By Bulletz. Filed in Computer Tech, Practical Tech |LG is releasing the Super Multi Blue which will play all new and old forms of disc media. This isn’t going over well with their rivals, of course. LG’s BH100 is only the start for them as they have already announced plans to make a similar disc drive for computers. The Super Multi Blue will be ready to ship in the early weeks of February. You can own one for a cool $1,199. As if the features aren’t already appealing enough to check your bank account, the makers also say that:
It also does triple duty, playing standard definition DVDs as well and upgrading the picture quality to 1081i high definition resolution. The unit does this with a single tray for holding the DVDs, but two different lasers for reading the content stored on them.
Talk about a sweet piece of technology. As the competition gets more fierce, we will see the prices drop. That’s when I will swoop in and take one for my own. Until then, I will let them work out the kinks and issues that come with newly released technologies.
This also means that the people who thought they would take over the industry with new technologies have just been shot down. There is no way to have any sway if there is technology that will play the very disc with which they thought they would dominate the industry.
