Skype breaking into Internet TV

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Skype has just announced that it is going to be getting into Internet Television broadcasting. It seems to be something that will be very lucrative for them in the long run, as most companies are beginning to amp up the market on internet television gadgets. It will be free for all users and is touted to be piracy-proof. They took Joost, the Mozilla based platform, and decided to turn it into gold. The platform is interactive, where you can add and modify elements of what you are watching. You can check out test version of the platform on Joost.com. They are planning to take on the big boys like YouTube and the ever popular Myspace videos.

Review: Free fonts for your projects

Monday, January 15th, 2007

You can download free fonts for use on PC or Mac. There are over 8,000 fonts readily available for use. There are a long list of categories in which you will find some pretty nifty font faces. I already have 500 fonts, but there are at least 10 I see that I want to download right off the bat. The site has no ads or popups. It features a blog, forums, and articles relating to typography. This is one of the most extensive Web 2.0 font directories that I have ever seen.

You can view samples of the font before you download. Take a gander at the top 100 fonts on the website. New fonts come in all the time. Take an hour or two and really dig into this site. You will probably find every font you have ever dreamed of using in your own projects right at your fingertips.

Get out of your cell phone contract

Monday, January 15th, 2007

This is supposed to be a painless way to get out of your current contracts. Cellswapper.com has a program where you can switch plans with other users. It’s like a swapmeet for cell phone service. You have a few hoops to jump through in the process, but that’s only normal when you are exchanging phone plans with another person. You don’t have to just swap. You can just give up your phone with the contract to another person and end up contract free.

The website is set up with Web 2.0 interfacing and easy to use search functions. Everything is laid out right before your eyes, so there is no second guessing how to get started. Most of the plans that are offered come with a free cell phone. Listing is free. If you still have questions, check out how it works. Let me know if you use the service and how it worked (or didn’t) for you.

Preview Vista and more

Monday, January 15th, 2007

You can view Vista & Office 2007 Preview Videos before you buy the actual products. The videos cover why you should upgrade, what has been updated, and all the key features of the programs. They are going to be on sale for a very short time with the Crazy 7 Day Sale at special prices. The sale begins on Saturday, January 20th on http://www.previewvistaandoffice.com.

If you decide to buy, please be assured that Marc Liron is a Microsoft MVP and a reputable vendor. He also runs a Website about Windows XP. The most interesting thing about the products he sells is that you can receive every single video in a package for as low as $47. Why is that interesting? Because you choose what you can afford to pay for the packages. There are different levels from which to choose and you can pay through either Paypal or a major credit Card. Every customer is also entered to win Office 2007.

Take a look, tell me what you think. If you do buy, let me know what your experience is with him and his product.

Net neutrality site and Google team up.

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

Net Neutrality is a huge deal in the world right now. Freedom of access is being threatened as Congress closes in on a decision on control. Google is teaming up with the grassroots company Save The Internet to try and preserve freedom on the net. I signed the petition a while back when I first heard about the issue being raised. The Internet is the last real stronghold for free access. Public opinion is forthcoming all across the board and whether we agree with what is being said or not, it’s still out there. We shouldn’t have to pay to get a faster connection to the information that we desire. Nor should a few companies be able to monopolize and monetize the Internet in such a way.

It’s a shame that we have to have such wars in our own neck of the woods when there are way more important things for Congress to be messing around with…like, maybe getting our troops out of hostile territory, but that’s a post for another day.

Save the Internet!
