New Pixel Advertiser: BlueGaya

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

A new way to get your sites notices is emerging as the next big thing in free marketing: Pixel advertising. What is it?

You can go to a site like BlueGaya:.Network and add your website or blog for free. It then stays in a little box on their site indefinitely. People can come by and see your website in this little box which, when rolled over, will render a bigger picture. The person can then click on the picture and go to your site. As people click on your site, it goes up in their search rankings and gets more exposure.

It’s a relatively new idea, and I can see many sites coming up in the future that will do the same. BlueGaya has a lovely flash interface with menus and information about their site. Keep your eye on them for more websites coming soon.

Lighted Concept Keyboard for Computers

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I saw this and thought “Hey what a great idea”. I know the perils of trying to see a keyboard by the light of the monitor. It hurts your eyes beyond belief! The new concept is to have LED lights that will work much like a reading light. You will be able to clearly see all the keys on the keyboard without any strain. I hope they put it into production soon, as it looks to be a really great asset. If they can get it to work, I don’t doubt that the idea will leak over to laptops and even text message centered cell phones.

European PS3 doesn’t have a chip on its shoulder

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

With this move on the part of Sony to try and cut cost since the sales for the Playstation 3 are not going as well as they would like, they might have just sealed their fate.

The European version of the Playstation 3 will not have both the PS2 and PS3 computer chips. You would have to get some special software for the PS3 in order for it to play the majority of its predecessor’s games. This is going to be a hassle for many as the demand for less software and more compact consoles rises. It’s no wonder that Sony is trying to cut costs, since their release of the PS3 in the States and Japan has shown the weaknesses of the PS3 and game enthusiasts are flocking to the Wii gaming console.

Sony better get their act together or they won’t have any reason to stay in the gaming business.

Need a design and a host?

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

We all know how costly it can be to have a site hosted or designed. Someone is making both Wesite Design and hosting painless, though. The kicker: It’s all for less than $20 a month. I couldn’t believe it so I had to go and read it for myself. You contract for them to do a design for your site. You tell them what you expect and need out of the design. They then take your input and design your site for you within 72 hours. You get to see the design, approve it, and get it all hosted for you. Hassle free. Pain free. The hosting package is nice, too. You have to see all the benefits of using their service.

If I was a designer novice or didn’t want to be bothered with trying to learn, this type of service would definitely appeal to me. People with businesses who don’t have the resources or time to make their own sites will find this service a proverbial God-send. Let me know if you decide to take them up on their offer. I would love to see the kinds of websites they come up with for you.

Digital Flying Nuisance

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Who would want a remote controlled pigeon? I’m sure that some prankster somewhere would appreciate this, but Chinese engineers have decided to try it out on REAL pigeons with implants. You are able, with the implant, to tell the pigeon what to do like flying up or to the left or however you wish. I can’t believe someone decided this was a good idea. It’s disturbing on so many levels. Next thing you know, we will have the Stepford pets!
