New Innovations: Portable solar energy

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

Everyone is trying to find ways to save on energy, as well as help save the planet. It’s also the age of smaller, more efficient technology. Well, I was just reading about solar handbags that can charge your cell phone! There are also a lot of other ways to keep from using non-renewable energy. So much is coming to light in renewable energy, that soon we may all be able to switch over and show the government how economic it really is. It’s also a chance for us to save on energy costs so we can put our funds to better use. Check out Ebay for solar panels and other solar tech that is practical and inexpensive. You can also get tips for helping cut costs and ways to incorporate renewable energy all over the ‘net. Take a look at the source article for more info on all that. I love the idea of the handbag. Useful accessory tech .. fantastic!

BitTorrent monetizing their downloads

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

A new campaign aimed at boys and young men is being launched by BitTorrent. They have decided to start weaning users on to paid digital content on all their channels. BitTorrent will offer content starting at just $1.99 for TV shows. You won’t be able to buy movies from them, but you can rent a movie starting from $2.99. Their campaign is starting rather soon, and I am sure that many a user will feel a little more than angry that their free sharing days are coming to an end. It also speaks to their competitors. I have a feeling that those one time pay sites will be gaining more business now that you have to pay per download or rental from BitTorrent.

Tech & Gaming Writers Wanted

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

New journalists and videographers are wanted for a chance to win cash and prizes. One of the prizes is a contract to write for the Firing Squad. The writing contest prelims end on February 28th and the video contest ceases this Sunday and they have a secondary deadline for March 18th.

It’s a great opportunity for someone to end up winning a load of cash, as well as the job of their dreams. There are a lot of writers already on FiringSquad.com, but they are looking for more creative minds to fill the spaces on the site. The same goes for video gurus. I would love to see some of the entrants videos and writing samples. For that, I would even volunteer to be a judge.

I would love to know if any of you participate and the outcome. Let me know if you enter. It never hurts to win things like money and prizes, even if you don’t get the contract.

The deadlines are coming rather quickly, so make sure to get your best quality samples in as soon as possible. For more information, make sure to click the link below that goes directly to the full press release for the contest.
