Refresher: UtterlyGeek.com

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

In December I gave you a link to this neat tech and gadget website called Utterly Geek and carelessly called it Utterly Geeky. I have just fixed the links and the link in the sidebar. I feel terrible that I didn’t notice before.

Utterly Geek

Since then, Utterly Geek has become a fixture in the tech blog world. I was just reading about the geek’s diet. You have to go and check out what the main staple of us who have monitors soldered to our foreheads. I was also happy to see a gadget that I can use as I have so many gadgets and gizmos to plug in under my desk. Thanks to Julie, I know now about the ever useful power squid. Of course, that begs the question: how many squids can you plug into another squid before meltdown?

Myspace Case Dismissed

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

The message is loud and clear. The courts will not hold Myspace accountable for the actions of individual parties that use the site. I have to say that I am not surprised. How can Myspace make sure that child molesters are not frequenting the lines? How can Myspace reach out from the Internet to make sure that kids and pedophiles don’t end up meeting each other? It’s not their responsibility. As I said before, it’s the responsibility of the parents to make sure their kids aren’t ending up in these predicaments. I can’t stress educating your children about the dangers of social networking and meeting in person enough!

Review: Smart Page Rank

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

I am checking out this beta site that is supposed to monitor your page rank efficiently. Smart PageRank.com promises to check your page rank with a lot of different data centers, send emails to you when it’s updated, show you your backlinks, keep up with your alexa and DMOZ scores, and more. This service is totally free, even though they send you information about other useful services that may or may not be free. They even give you little graphic to put on your website that shows your page rank.

Make sure to sign up for the emails. I am sure that the site can only get better as time goes on. They are already living up to their promises.

Pipes by Yahoo

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Has anyone used Pipes by Yahoo? I was trying to decipher the use and purpose of it the other day. I know it’s supposed to be something very useful, but darned if I can figure it out. If anyone has any tips or tutorials on how to use Pipes, I would be happy to check them out. Let me know if you have been successful with it and how you use it. Much appreciated!
