Review: U-Doo by Wirefly
By Bulletz. Filed in Computer Tech, Myspace, Review |U-Doo is a new avatar application from Wirefly. I have been checking out this interesting interface for making an avatar. I actually have it on my Myspace. It has been there for a few days. It was easy to add in. All I did was make my avatar with their website, click to let it know I wanted to add it to my myspace profile, and it asked me for my login info so that it could be added automagically.
I was reassured that they weren’t keeping my login information.
You can do more than just add the avatar you make to your Myspace. The main function is to add it to your cell phone to be used as a ringtone. You can also email it to your friends. You tell the avatar what to say via text or a phoned in message and in what voice to say it in. There are premade voices for text entry, but you would have your own voice if you phone it in yourself.
Downloading to your phone starts a subscription service that is free for the first 60 days and after that only $4.99 a month for unlimited usage. Email and Myspace options are free for users.
Making the avatar was fun and easy. Most of it is self explanatory. I didn’t get that the goofy looking smile up at the top right of Accessories was actually a necklace till I clicked it. Here is what the interface looks like *click for a close-up*:
Overall, it’s a cute idea. I hope that they add more avatar faces and voices so you have more variety with choosing. I like to make avatars look like myself. It’s a little hard to find someone that does look like me, but I got as close as I could get. You can do the comparisons yourself when you see the finished product on my Myspace page.
