Appraise your Web Real Estate

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Domain names are always being bought and sold, whether it be person to person or provider to person. I always wonder how it is that one would figure out the value of their domains. Thankfully, there is a site that allows you to appraise any domain name to find out the value it has based on a number of factors. I was able to appraise every website that I own through Leapfish. I discovered that my most highly valued name thus far is where I host my spiritual blog.

Out of sheer curiosity, I checked out some other popular URLs to see how they measured up compared to each other. It was interesting to find out that Yahoo is appraised at a higher price than Google. I could spend hours on Leapfish just checking out the values of different domains. It’s so easy. If you want to get a more accurate accounting of what your domain name is worth, there is the option to get an expert appraisal.

Well, I am off to look at more domains. I hope you find it as thrilling as I do.

Yahoo! Photos going out of style

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

I just got the option to download or move my photos from Yahoo!Photos to another service. I opted to move them to Flickr, since I pay them for unlimited awesome service. Be aware that Yahoo!Photos is closing and you only have a little while to decide what to do about it. I was in such shock that I didn’t even note the day when it is closing for good. I did find the information on their website. You have till September 20th to get your photos situated in another place.

Flickr kicks Paypal, users up in arms

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

I just read about Flickr, the popular photo uploading service, has just kicked out PayPal as a payment option. This comes on the heels of the new release of Flickr in a number of different languages. Many are crying foul as the international users now are forced to try and find an alternative way to pay for their pro accounts. In its place, Flickr is now open to Yahoo! Wallet payments. You are able to add a PayPal account to the wallet, but only if you have a credit card attached as the backup funding method. So many users of Flickr do not own credit or debit cards that they are screaming for a change back to the original payment options. The Flickr staff is fielding a few of the questions and concerns. Their answer is this: in time, more payment options will be available. This does little to quell the outcry, as many users are being forced to drop their pro accounts as they come due in this time of waiting.

Digital Camera truths told

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Every day technologies are upgraded. Digital cameras are no exception. I am already on the lookout for my next camera, and that is where digital camera reviews come into play. Real life consumers tell their experiences with the cameras so that you won’t be burned. Experts also give their opinions.

It means a lot to have a plethora of reviews from all across the board. Hearing all good things about a camera doesn’t always mean it’s a good piece of technology. That is when we have to think with a “buyer beware” mentality. I have benefited many times from review sites that give every review and not just the ones that favorably portray the product.

Kodak may eliminate flash in cameras

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

I am joyfully chiming in on the new developments from Kodak. It seems that they are working on sensors that will change the face of digital cameras forever.

Image sensors act as a digital camera’s eyes by converting light into an electric charge to begin the capture process.

This will definitely bring up the price of digital cameras if it is successful. Repairing them will become a bigger hassle, too. I know that if indeed this does work as it has been touted to do, the best pictures known to man will begin to surface all over the world. Taking pictures at night will no longer be out of the reach of many a photo enthusiast *like myself*. Goodbye pictures of people that come out looking like aliens! Goodbye red eye!

Take a look at the difference.
