Coupons and deals computers & peripherals

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

You know you have to find coupons and specials when it comes to buying anything electronic. It seems that technology pricing varies greatly depending on what you are willing to buy. Refurbished goods can get you a huge discount. For those of you who are not into refurbished items or the items you need are not sold this way, coupons are one of the better ways to go.

One of the major issues it knowing where to find said bargains. Many places claim to have coupon codes or to be able to find you a better deal, but then they don’t deliver. I have found a place that is consistently updating their codes and I have yet to have a problem with them. You will find a number of electronics coupons right at your finger tips for things like stereos, speakers, and peripherals. There are also plenty of computers and software deals to be had. Whether you are upgrading or getting something for the first time, you will be happy to find that you can keep a few dollars in your pocket. No one said good technology had to cost you an arm and a leg.

iPhones locked back up

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Now that Apple iPhones have been hacked, Apple has decided to bring in its new line of defense. Solution: lock the phones back up and render those that have been tampered with useless. I have to wonder how long this new lock will work, though. I have to give credit where credit is due. Those hackers are pretty adamant about getting their way. I have a feeling that the phones will be unlocked again and the new iPhone that comes out will have the capability to handle more than one carrier. It’s got to happen eventually, though. Too many people covet the iPhone capability.

Streamline your work flow

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

I am so in need of something like this. I have such issues with wanting to be more organized and trying to find the right solution for it. I was looking into the ProWorkflow organizer which is $15 per month for their basic service. It has everything one would need to make sure they stay on task. You are able to input your jobs, when they are due, what they entail…and you are able to see how long you have been working on different tasks. If there is more than just yourself working, you are able to have a multiuser account.

For ten dollars more per month you can add invoicing for clients, for another ten quotes. They give you 100mb of memory to run your business from to start with. Upgrades are also available for varied fees. The screenshot pretty much says it all. You can see down the left hand side all the ways to categorize your work. The program is easy to read, easy to use, and you can get a free trial to make sure that I am right ;) . Check it out and let me know what you think. I will be keeping an eye on this product to see if they come out with one that I can keep locally on my computer and work with for a one time fee.

MyBlogLog and Yahoo own you

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

I am not happy. Not happy at all. People who have bought into Yahoo! account, you have the opportunity to make one for your all inclusive login.

I hate that now not only Flickr is in league with Yahoo!, but now I can’t even have my separated login for MyBlogLog. When I merged my accounts I lost my favorite MBL icon. LOST IT! It’s nowhere on the website. I now have to make do with a different icon till I find the other one somewhere among my thousands of icon pictures on my disks. Thanks a lot!

I am also not happy that all my information is being shared among all these sites through the one common bond. If they are ever compromised, so will we all be…no matter which site they hack…because they are all joined through Yahoo.

Between Yahoo and Google, the world is getting smaller and smaller.

Why I love hackers

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Not all hackers, but some…

They challenge companies to do better than mediocre. They challenge technology to go to new heights. Not necessarily all for security, but just to improve the quality of the products we use every day. For example, this whole issue with iPhone and hackers. There is such an uproar about unlocked phones, that I can just imagine the next step is to have a double sim car reader, as one commenter suggested. There could even be a phone that has a built in simlock so you can just add your card in and use it no matter who your provider is. In the long run, I think it will benefit all the major players to get in on some form of upgrade like that.

Long-term storm clouds brewing over AT&T, Verizon Wireless by ZDNet’s Larry Dignan — A series of events are happening, or about to happen, that threaten the business models of big wireless carriers such as Verizon Wireless and AT&T. Keep in mind that these storm clouds are just now building and the story will take years to play out. And don’t expect financial upheaval to appear just yet. But [...]
