Get the Flock out of here!

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Not really. I rather enjoy Flocking the interweb. Flock is a social networking browser. It is chock full of useful applications that don’t require any addons or plugins. You are able to set up your accounts through Flock and have one click access to it all. I can upload photos to Flickr or Photobucket directly from the browser and blog them or share them in minutes.

I can check up on my friends on sites like Facebook and Twitter. I can blog to my self hosted sites and a good number of free hosting sites. I can even access my bookmarks in del.icio.us.

If you are a Firefox user, you will love the fact that most of the extensions and add-ons you can use in FF are compatible for use in Flock. Just go to the addons page for FF and download as you would if you were using FF. I have added nearly all my other addons without problems.

Want to get a glimpse of what I’m talking about? Check out the Flickr stream of screenshots. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

Flocking to a different browser

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Today I decided to check out all the wonders of Flock. I think I have fallen in love. I am totally cheating on Firefox with Flock. It has nearly everything. There are a few addons from Mozilla that I wish would work with this last verison of Flock, but they aren’t anything I can live without. I hope that more extensions get added on from Flock admins themselves, though. I am going to be testing this browser for at least a week before I decide whether or not to totally switch.

What is your experience with Flock?

What’s the big Izea?

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

2560x1600_purple.jpg (by tedatpayperpost)I was just informed that the official PayPerPost umbrella company has been released today. Izea.com is the compilation of every company that PPP owns under one name. Many thought that PPP was trying to get rid of their negative rep by absorbing PPP into Izea, thereby changing its name. That is not the case, as you can see on the site.

Honestly, I think it’s not going to make a difference. Any reputation that they have gained over the last months, good or bad, will not be affected at all by this new Izea site. It’s just putting everything in one place so it can all be judged in one foul swoop. I bet many of you didn’t know that they had so many different companies under their wing. The backlash should be interesting to watch unfold across blogs everywhere.

There is still another big release coming up on the eleventh of November. Argus, the PPP monster, will be making its debut. The full new release will be something else I will have to judge when it gets here. Stay tuned for that review…

Eye-Fi the WiFi memory card

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

I read about this just now and I must say that I am totally impressed. Eye-Fi has just given the solution to me having to take pictures, take out my memory card, wait for it to load up, open the folders, and figure out which pictures I want to upload. The 2 GB card allows you to directly load up your pictures without having to remove the card from the device. Almost too good to be true. There is a video on the site so you see just how it works. Suggested retail? a bit under $100. You do get unlimited uploading at no additional charge, though.
