I was going to report to you all yesterday, but today the deal is on! Get FREE SHIPPING at Geeks.com – April 22-24 w/ code FREESHIP for qualifying orders over $49.99. This is great for people who, like me, add the price of shipping into the total price for the product and then try to find the lowest price overall. When shopping computers or items that need service plans, the plan price is also a huge factor. If I buy something from Geeks right now minus shipping, it comes out to be a way better price than most!
Everyone needs a backup of their backup. I think that the best way to do this is to get an online storage buddy as well as an external hard drive. We have been contemplating a number of models ourselves. The question is how much memory do you REALLY want to have in an external hard drive?
You could go for the small ones like the 320 gigabyte drive so you don’t end up with too much information on one drive. I have a habit of saving things to three or four different places just in case one messes up, so that might be my best bet.
Then there are the mega drives like the Western Digital 2TB My Book Essential USB 2.0 External Hard Drive, which gives you more memory than you could probably fill up in your lifetime…depending on what you put on the drive. We would be backing up pictures, movies, and music mostly. Those things take up a heap of memory. Terabytes might be the way to go when you look at a movie that takes up about 4 gigs on average.
Decisions, decisions. I would love to know about anyone else’s experience with external hard drives.

I am trying really hard to buy something that is worth my money in this department. I have been going back and forth between the netbooks and the laptops. One one hand, you get the cd burner and a little more room to see things… on the other hand you get a load of functionality with built in goodies like webcams and card readers. One of my picks happens to be this HP Mini Notebook for a mere $279 + free shipping. I have also been really interested in the MSI Wind, also found on the site for a low price. I still don’t know which I will choose…but I have time to figure it out. If you have any suggestions in this price range BY ALL MEANS let me know!
I know there is a number of people who have waited till the 98th hour to get their taxes done this year. If you are one of those people, make sure you search the net for deals on tax software before you buy. There is no reason to pay an arm and a leg because companies want to gouge you for waiting so long. I want to share with you a deal for FREE SHIPPING on Tax Software, including H&R Block’s Tax Cut and Turbo Tax! – exp. 04/15/09, and encourage you to take advantage as soon as possible. You still have time to get it to your house and file! Remember, the deadline to file taxes is April 15th by midnight. If you don’t have them filed or at least in the mail by then, you are totally screwed. AND don’t forget that if you need an extension, you should ask the IRS.
