I have been in the market for a desktop personal journal ever since we moved to New York. Not everything I feel or think is something I want posted for the entire world to read.

Enter Efficient PIM diary. I downloaded the free version of this along with a few other desktop based diaries I wanted to try out. Efficient won, hands down. Why?

  • No need to be online.
  • Ease of use.
  • Quick searches.
  • Minimal clutter on the workspace.
  • Various color and button themes.
  • Ability to customize the work space to suit my needs.
  • PASSWORD PROTECTION for free!

Yes, with all these lovely features, I was won over by Efficient Diary. I have already journaled twice since downloading it only hours ago. The fact that I don’t have to be on the net to do it is a big plus for me, especially having so many blogs and now I have mifi which has a 5 gig limit per month. I need to get online, work, and get offline again fast. I don’t have the time to mess around with lots of different blogging sites so I can have an anonymous, personal place to type out my brain’s crazies. I would rather keep them contained in my computer, thank you very much ( LOL ).

Another thing I loved about it is that you can export your journal entry by entry or in one file. You can also print entries if you so desire. And yet another thing I love is how I can write an entry somewhere else on the computer and import it into the journal without any fuss. Just find the file and import. Easy as pie!

Any improvements I could make to the product?

I would suggest is allowing people to make their own color palette. I am a purple junkie, but I only have a few colors from which to choose on preset themes. I am always looking to make my desktop more tranquil, so purple options could definitely help me out.

I would also suggest a way to be able to drag things around the desktop. For instance, I don’t like my folders being on the left side. I would rather have them on top and the journal cards down the left side. It is just more pleasing to my working order.

Another thing that I would like is if there were an option to make a request for the password every time you click the little diary in the quick start menu. If it were an option, I would feel safer leaving my computer on around other people.

Other than those few little things, this is a hefty little app that I will be using on a more than daily basis for a long time to come.

Take it to the world:
