Make your blog Tweet

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

A friend of mine (Owen) has collaborated with FreshPress Themes to create the most adorable Wordpress theme I have seen in a while. It’s all based off of the famous social networking site Twitter. The theme is called Fresh Tweet. It looks JUST like the basic Twitter profile, but it’s a blog! There is also a page where you can have people leave you random thoughts. How cool is that? Check out the full demo at Fresh Press Themes.

Social Media sharing going nuts

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Holy mackrel. If sharing everything you do on things like twitter wasn’t enough, TypePad has just launched BLOGIT. You are now able to add an application in Facebook that will allow you to blog and tweet and pownce till your heart’s content. It works with all the major blog platforms, as you can see by the extensive amount ot finy little icons surrounding the sign. I don’t know that I am going to like all this quadrupled amount of repetitive information. Just imagine what this will mean for advertisers who daily look for better ways to send out massive amounts of ad text all in one shot.

Podcast Perfection

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

I am only just getting really acquainted with podcasts and podcasting. I started a podcast of my own on my Bulletproofsoul blog which goes on every Monday.

There are a few other podcasts that I try never to miss. One is posted every Friday and is called the Friday FaveCast. That one is good music, health tips, money tips, and some funny characters. It is a definite must hear podcast which I download every week.

I have just been introduced to the musical joys of Todd Kelley and EJ Flavors (not pictured). These two come up with some hot musical mixes that I am still in awe about after I have listened.

All 3 of those podcasts are musically centered and leave a lasting impression, but there is also a tech podcast that I like to listen to on the regular. Darren Keith comes up with some of the best tech tips, tools, and info. He is always looking for a new direction in which to take his podcasts. He also hosts a pretty nifty tech site.

There are more, but these are the 4 major players that influence my life on a regular basis.

Let’s Play Google Says

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

Imagine that you are a blogger. You blog for money. You just got hit hard in the last PR drops and you are wondeirng how you are going to make ends meet. Well, Google has come to fix your problems. You have to play the game called “Google Says”.

Google says put rel=”nofollow” in all your paid links.
Google says ask for reinclusion in their page rank databases.
Delete all your links….

ah ah ah! I didn’t say Google says!

Now, for those of you who work in the pay for link industry, you know what this means. Some places you work for will allow you to nofollow your links. They won’t let you delete your links either. Therefore, if you go back through your blogs and nofollow or delete links, you would be violating the Terms of Service of that company. That means they can ban you from working for them and in some cases, sue you for taking the link down or discounting it.

For those of you who don’t know, nofollow is the tag you put into a link that tells the Google spiders not to count that link.

So what do you do? No Follow all your paid links and get your PR back, but lose your job or leave them be as they are and make mediocre money?

Tough decisions at hand.

More on SocialSpark

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

The official release to the public won’t be until January. It’s an application that brings together the functionality of social networking. Instead of just between friends, advertisers can join in the fun. They are able to see blogger’s profiles without even logging in. Bloggers have friends lists, profiles for each of their blogs, and a way for you to see the posts they place on their blogs, sponsored and not.

It’s very web 2.0! You can find out even more from the people who saw it first. Check out Colleen’s post about what SocialSpark entails.
