Free Online Video and Photo Editing

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I have found an online photo editor and fallen in love with it. It’s called Picnik. You can send pretty much any page or picture to their site and tweak it to your liking. There is a premium version, but I won’t be shelling out for it any time soon. I just LOVE their interface and how quickly I can edit flickr pics that I forgot to fix before I uploaded them.

Anyone else use this one? What other ones do you recommend?

I am about to try out one true media for video editing. I have yet to find a good free application that does what I want without me having to jump through a bunch of tutorials. My Windows Movie Maker has been broken since the last huge automatic Windows update and there is no way to fix it.

I like YouTube Remixer BUT it doesn’t actually save and publish the video when you are done. I used JumpCut by Yahoo and that one is nice. It actually works. Recently I tried Jahshaka, but that one won’t let me do anything the tutorial says to do AND it’s a pain in the rear to even get the video to come up so you can make futile attempts at rendering what you want.

I would love to hear about other free services you can use. I would prefer a program that I can download locally to work with videos.

Imeem More Stable than Before

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Just a little over two weeks ago I would listen to my playlists on Imeem and have this annoying issue:

If there was in interruption in bandwith, the song would fade out and go to the next one on the playlist.

Umm… NO. I don’t think so! If I wanted to listen to the next song, I would change to it myself. Thankfully, in their latest upgrade, they have addressed this issue. Now if there are hiccups in the system, the song pauses and comes right back in after the disturbance.

Thanks Imeem!

Sticky Notes for my desktop

Friday, November 16th, 2007

I got sick of trying to locate the hoards of notes that I place all over my desk proper, so I downloaded a free Sticky Note program . I did try another one before this. It was more elegant, but I really didn’t like how I couldn’t actually hide all my notes. I don’t want everyone seeing what it is that I have on my to do list all the time.

Glad to have found a free program. I go with free most of the time, as that is my favorite price.

Get the Flock out of here!

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Not really. I rather enjoy Flocking the interweb. Flock is a social networking browser. It is chock full of useful applications that don’t require any addons or plugins. You are able to set up your accounts through Flock and have one click access to it all. I can upload photos to Flickr or Photobucket directly from the browser and blog them or share them in minutes.

I can check up on my friends on sites like Facebook and Twitter. I can blog to my self hosted sites and a good number of free hosting sites. I can even access my bookmarks in del.icio.us.

If you are a Firefox user, you will love the fact that most of the extensions and add-ons you can use in FF are compatible for use in Flock. Just go to the addons page for FF and download as you would if you were using FF. I have added nearly all my other addons without problems.

Want to get a glimpse of what I’m talking about? Check out the Flickr stream of screenshots. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised.
