Stumble and you might freeze

Friday, June 19th, 2009

StumbleUpon has been a huge asset to many a blogger trying to gain regular traffic from the net. Unfortunately for many, this application is no longer a viable way to garner fans. SU has taken it upon themselves to shut down stumblers who only use the site to promote or enter contests and giveaways. There is a widespread campaign by those who have had their accounts frozen to warn others of their plight so they don’t fall to the same. Stumble does not really understand the dynamic of what they are doing to bloggers around the globe. They don’t get that many bloggers would never have anything they feel stumble-worthy if it were not for a contest on their blog. They gain followers and friends all in the same swift click of a button. Stumble is losing traffic for this move, as there are many who are reading the news and swearing off anything to do with Stumble. The fact is that now we all have to be careful when we see any contests or giveaways that involve using StumbleUpon as an entry option. You could be the next one out in the cold.

TechDeals.com : deals in time for Christmas

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Just in time for the holidays I have for you a deal site that gives you up to the minute RSS deal info. That comes in handy when you are pressed for time. They also serve the RSS to your wireless connection (i.e. your cell phone). Get alerts every day of the week all day long.

Looking for a cheap digital camera? Check out what’s available at many stores online without the time consuming search all across the net. You can do comparisons, read reviews, check out the coupons and rebates that are available for each camera. Make a decision, make a purchase all in the same fifteen minutes.

The product database is enormous. I am currently looking through their laptops. I just typed in the word “laptop” to their site search and found a Gateway for around $650 with free shipping. How I would LOVE to be given that for Christmas. Tech geeks LOVE technology as presents *hint hint*.

Another interesting feature on their search is that I can look at all that Ebay has to offer. I can also just look for the lowest priced product from both sites at once. There is an HP on sale right now for under $150 on Ebay. I’m over here drooling. Tech gets me all worked up.

So now, tell me what you found. What are you buying for yourself or others this holiday season? I would love to know.

Review: Technology Goal

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Though relatively new, Technology is well represented in the TechnologyGoal.com blog. Fresh new content is being posted there on a regular basis. The design is easy to navigate, posts well organized. There are plenty of pictures for those of us who just HAVE to see technology, not just read about it. I would bookmark this blog and watch it develop. It promises to be an interesting daily read.

I would like to give this five tacks…but alas I am clumsy and clicked 2. No way to take it back :(

$100 back for iPhone early adopters

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

I was just reading on the Apple website that due to all the complaints, they are reimbursing customers:

…we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apples website next week. Stay tuned.

There. I hope they that you early adopters are happy and have learned your lesson. No, but seriously. It actually shows the immense power of collective complaints. Just think. With this new massive power we might even be able to get refunds on stuff that gets messed up outside of warranty.

Really, I am glad that the early adopters get some recompense. It was a mondo price drop and if I were them, I would be complaining to the company, too. I am sure that some people will still be mad, as the credit is only for the store and not on their credit card.

$200 off the iPhone

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

This is the reason I don’t buy popular technology when it is popular. There are always bugs. There are always sales. There are always upgrades. The iPhone is no exception. It just dropped by $200 in sale price. I know there are a bunch of terribly angry people fuming at how they got gypped. It is quite a drop. It’s almost too good to be true. I know a few of my tech friends who believe as I do about new technology and are now jumping with glee that they were right to wait.
