Get out of your cell phone contract

Monday, January 15th, 2007

This is supposed to be a painless way to get out of your current contracts. Cellswapper.com has a program where you can switch plans with other users. It’s like a swapmeet for cell phone service. You have a few hoops to jump through in the process, but that’s only normal when you are exchanging phone plans with another person. You don’t have to just swap. You can just give up your phone with the contract to another person and end up contract free.

The website is set up with Web 2.0 interfacing and easy to use search functions. Everything is laid out right before your eyes, so there is no second guessing how to get started. Most of the plans that are offered come with a free cell phone. Listing is free. If you still have questions, check out how it works. Let me know if you use the service and how it worked (or didn’t) for you.

Real Life Marketing: Signs

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

Marketing to search engines is a large part of the strategy for anyone trying to make their brand known to the world. One aspect that is horribly downplayed are signs. Yard Signs can be a very effective tool for marketing. Making a sign is easy as one, two, three. Most people will see a sign in a yard, on a car, or in a window and make a note of the business and website for later research. I can’t tell you how many great businesses I have found that had signs in my neighborhood.

Small local businesses find this to be highly effective. Any sign or card that they have backed up with a well made website will bring in sales. I said “well-made” because that makes a difference. If the site isn’t aesthetically pleasing, many people will glance and move on. We are visual creatures and need the stimulation of an easy to use interface and well made layout. Nothing can kill business more quickly than a problematic website.

Think about getting some signs. They are inexpensive and very accessible. Placement is a breeze. You can get locals to help you spread the word. Word of mouth is still the best marketing tool for business, and signs will definitely help you get your brand noticed.

Expensive Satellite Hangs In the Balance

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Of the checkbook, that is. It is now known that this costly piece of metal is not responding and the US officials are trying to decipher the reason. Of course, the United States is not ready to declare it a total loss (sound familiar?) and are optimistic that they will regain contact with the satellite again. What’s really funny to me is that every single article that I have seen on the satellite are stressing how EXPENSIVE it really was to build and send into space.

Ebay and StubHub ready to roll

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Tis the season for huge acquisitions, one being Ebay and StubHub uniting as one. This will bring legitimate event ticket sales to Ebay. It will be fun to slug it out in an all out bidding war for those precious tickets to our favorite team’s game or the coveted Tyler Perry plays. I can see how this will really open up a whole new avenue for Ebay. They will be shelling out around $300 million, but gaining an ever bearing cash tree.

Technology News: Space: India Successfully Launches Rocket

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

India has joined the ranks of the space race. On Wednesday they launched their own rocket into the stratosphere. Their goal is to have manned missions in the future. This is going to make space exploration pretty interesting. Everyone is trying to get in the air and they aren’t really thinking of the consequences of so many objects hurtling through our atmosphere. The weather will never be the same again.
