Get out of your cell phone contract

Monday, January 15th, 2007

This is supposed to be a painless way to get out of your current contracts. Cellswapper.com has a program where you can switch plans with other users. It’s like a swapmeet for cell phone service. You have a few hoops to jump through in the process, but that’s only normal when you are exchanging phone plans with another person. You don’t have to just swap. You can just give up your phone with the contract to another person and end up contract free.

The website is set up with Web 2.0 interfacing and easy to use search functions. Everything is laid out right before your eyes, so there is no second guessing how to get started. Most of the plans that are offered come with a free cell phone. Listing is free. If you still have questions, check out how it works. Let me know if you use the service and how it worked (or didn’t) for you.

Expensive Satellite Hangs In the Balance

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Of the checkbook, that is. It is now known that this costly piece of metal is not responding and the US officials are trying to decipher the reason. Of course, the United States is not ready to declare it a total loss (sound familiar?) and are optimistic that they will regain contact with the satellite again. What’s really funny to me is that every single article that I have seen on the satellite are stressing how EXPENSIVE it really was to build and send into space.

Web videos on your Television

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

Like Web TV but better, Sling Media Inc. has just announced it’s new technology that will allow you to watch web videos on your television. You will need some more gadgets to hook up in order to get the idea to work correctly. They are predicting that the SlingCatcher will be available by the middle of the year for around $200. It is like a cable box that will hook from your computer network and play the videos. The only way to control what you watch at this moment is from the computer and not through the television. I am sure they will figure out a way that you can do it both ways and it will be a big hit.

Review: Mobile Soft Market Savings Site

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

MobileSoft Market features a lot of low priced software, ebooks, and other applications at discount rates. If you have a Blackberry, Palm, Pocket PC, Smartphone, Symbian, or PSP you will find some interesting deals on the site. I think they would do better to expand their content and offerings, but for now they have a pretty good grasp on their industry. Blackberry seems to be the most supported mobile tool on the site at this time.

If you aren’t already impressed by their low prices, buy something and take another 15% off with the coupon code “0NGKAE”.

The launch of the planet hunter

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

A new expedition is preparing to launch this Wednesday in search of new Earth-like planets. This is the first spacecraft ever built that can find planets that are similar to Earth’s size outside the solar system.

The expedition is being led by the French space agency Cnes. They will be taking Corot out for the first time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

We’ve been waiting 25 years to get such a mission in space. Prof. Ian Roxburgh, Queen Mary astronomy professor

The mission is not just set to look for planets, but stars as well. They are looking for more information on a star’s life span and evolution.
