Get in on SEO

Monday, January 8th, 2007

Everyone is looking to have their websites and products noticed by search engines. One of the ways that you can easily begin to gain some recognition is by submitting your website to search engines. Some of them are free and others are a nominal fee. Search Engine Submission At Servicewrap.Net, for instance, is free for charitable organizations but there is a fee for others sites. You can usually find a pretty good deal if you look around the Internet. I have been testing out some of the free submission sites and have to say that I am impressed with the results.

Larger businesses tend to seek out higher priced SEO helps, but there are plenty of smaller business that are getting recognized through free mediums. $180 isn’t a bad deal when you are assured that your website will become legitimately more popular on the search engines that matter most like Google and Yahoo. Take a look at my page on Search Engine submission and see if you can find more ways to increase your link’s popularity.

B2B Directories good for exposure

Friday, January 5th, 2007

Business to business internet directory entries could give your business the leading edge over the competitors. There are also many jobs that are posted there every day that many people don’t see because they never think to visit the directories. The leaders in the industry already know about the benefit of having their name on a number of B2B directories. Many times you will find a directory that will even allow you to sign up for free. Lead Maverick, for example, allows you to a free account from which you can post your content and get it seen or heard.

Search engines are hungry for these type of directories. They are already optimized for maximum readability. The search crawlers will see exactly what you present on your site and therefore you will have more people visiting your content. They even use RSS technology, which is one of the hottest add-ons in browsers right now. Many people have RSS aggregators that run on their browser windows. I am running Sage RSS in my Firefox right now, for instance. I get the latest posts and news faster than just surfing round the Internet for hours.

So if you have any product or website that you would like to promote, consider adding your sites to B2B Directories. You won’t be sorry.

Beware fake PageRank shills on Ebay

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

Here’s a head’s up for anyone who likes to buy websites on Ebay. There have been reports of sellers selling sites with fake Page Rank. Beware! You can get yourself banned from all page ranking sites pretty quickly with these types of domains. Be sure to check the page rank of every site that you might be buying from a seller other than legit proven vendors.

You can use Google’s page rank tool, Blogflux,URL Trends, and Page Strength checker to make sure what you are buying is quality. It is also good to report these people to Ebay.

New searches, New SEO guidelines?

Friday, December 29th, 2006

The new searches like Wikiasari and Sproose leave a few questions unanswered: How will this affect the present guidelines for search engine optimization? Will it even matter anymore?

Users being able to boost or ruin another site’s reputation also bring up some ethical questions. Who is to say that people will not soon be paying others to bury their competitors in negative reviews? The sites will never see the light of day again!

The dangers of this type of user based system getting out of hand is very eminent. I have heard rumors of people being cajoled to Digg or bury articles on this already popular user-rated system. Hopefully they will find a way to deter people from abusing their power.
