Plurk: The New Business

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Wow. I think I am addicted to this timeline tweeting powncing thing called Plurk. I have been sitting here plurking for at least 2 hours. CRAZY. If you have an addictive personality, I suggest you don’t join Plurk. You will never leave the computer, just looking for updates.

So far, it’s a stable platform by which we can chat, send quick messages, share videos and pictures, and just generally commune together. You can toggle your plurks from public to private, to your clique, to just one person…and you can do that for each plurk you make. You don’t have to turn your whole profile private so people can’t be all in your business.

My friend Dr Victorine says she thinks there should be a topic and member search so we can find new friends easily on Plurk. I agree. It would be nice to be able to find people with similar interests on Plurk. Right now, you have to share your address with everyone or go through all your lovely email/instant messaging contacts.

Check it out, it’s open to the public.

Sick of Twitter? Start Powncing

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Twitter has been plagued with a number of failures over the last few weeks. It’s down more than it’s up, which has many people looking for a better way to get their voices heard. Viable solution?

Switch to Pownce. It allows you to post more than 140 characters. You can also do multimedia posts. If you are on the website itself, you are able to view videos and listen to songs right there. You are able to download songs and pictures straight from the Pownce site, where others have posted them. You also have the traditional linkage available on Twitter. Pownce has a downloadable interface so that you can Pownce from your computer’s desktop, too.

There is much more, but you have to join up to see it all.
