New searches, New SEO guidelines?

Friday, December 29th, 2006

The new searches like Wikiasari and Sproose leave a few questions unanswered: How will this affect the present guidelines for search engine optimization? Will it even matter anymore?

Users being able to boost or ruin another site’s reputation also bring up some ethical questions. Who is to say that people will not soon be paying others to bury their competitors in negative reviews? The sites will never see the light of day again!

The dangers of this type of user based system getting out of hand is very eminent. I have heard rumors of people being cajoled to Digg or bury articles on this already popular user-rated system. Hopefully they will find a way to deter people from abusing their power.

Web 2.0

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

In my recent article, you read about one blogging company that is taking Web 2.0 application in stride. There are other companies that are jumping on that bandwagon, as well. These companies are becoming fully functioning multimedia giants.

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingRockstartup is one such endeavor. It’s a reality tv show made for the web about the web. What does that mean? Ted Murphy, the owner of PayPerPost, has recently begun releasing videos that chronicle the day in the life of his hot new startup company. He brings you inside the workings of a web based business.

Another company that is launching full throttle into Web 2.0 is Mind Comet, also in affiliation with PayPerPost. Their blogs and websites are chock full of intricate Flash presentations, blog posts, podcasts, and dynamic ways to look at information. You can interact with the people who are involved as well.

Other websites are also evolving into what we would expect for Web 2.0. Digg and Technorati are both on the cutting edge of this information transformation. I predict that we will see more streamlined Web with easy loading and quick answers.

Right now, the Internet is at the point where the pipes are getting clogged with a mishmash of useless information and websites. These spam sites as well as many that are just laying around in the way of good content will be flushed through the system pretty quickly with the new Web 2.0 layout. I personally cannot wait!
