Turkey YouTubers told TOUGH
Monday, March 12th, 2007Turkey is banning YouTube from all the computers in the country. The problem being that their government thinks that there are videos on YouTube that degrade and humiliate the people of Turkey.
“Banning access to the Web site does not punish those who did that (posted the videos) but the citizens of the Turkish republic,” said student Kursat Cetinkoz, reading from a petition the group submitted to the court in Istanbul.
I think it’s utterly ridiculous to believe that banning YouTube is going to make it any better for the inhabitants of the country. The ban is punishing everyone for what a few people did. Something like that is never really acceptable.
